Neo 4K setup: Android TV, phones and tablets
Cheap boxes and good boxes part company here, and the H.265 decoder is usually what separates them.
What you need in front of you
- Your Android phone, tablet or TV box
- Your Neo 4K credentials
Allow the install
On Android TV the permission lives under Security and Restrictions; on a phone the browser simply asks the first time. It is a one-off either way.
Install a player
On a TV box, open Downloader and type the code listed on our Apps page; on a phone, the neo4k.app build installs straight from the browser. Any Xtream-capable player serves just as well - what matters is the three values, not the app around them.
Add the account
Enter server, username and password. On a large catalogue the difference between Xtream and M3U on this hardware is dramatic.
Watch the decoder
A device without hardware H.265 falls back to the CPU: dropped frames, softening on motion, and worsening as it heats. That looks like a network fault and is not one.
Worth knowing
- Prefer Xtream over M3U wherever the player offers it; the catalogue loads incrementally instead of all at once.
- Test a 4K channel early to confirm the box decodes H.265 in hardware rather than in software.
- Use the Ethernet port if the box has one.
